Terms
Last updated 2026-05-14
These are the terms of use for Intus, an iOS app for habit tracking, journaling, and seasonal reflection. By installing or using Intus, you agree to these terms. Intus is developed and maintained by Simon Rendón Arango (the “developer”).
What Intus is
Intus is a private journal and habit tracker that uses AI to reflect your habits and writing back to you. It is not a medical device, a mental health treatment, a coaching service, or a substitute for professional advice. It is a tool for paying attention to your own life.
Acceptable use
You may use Intus for any lawful, personal purpose. You may not:
- Use Intus to harass, harm, or violate the rights of any person.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the app beyond what iOS permits for personal inspection.
- Use the AI features to generate content that violates the underlying AI providers’ policies (Anthropic / Google) — abuse, illegal content, attempts to circumvent safety guards, etc.
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the app or its outputs as a commercial product.
The developer reserves the right to deny service to accounts that abuse the AI providers’ systems in ways that would jeopardise the developer’s own access to those providers.
Subscriptions and billing
Intus offers two optional subscription tiers for AI features:
- Monthly — £2.99 per month with a 7-day free trial.
- Yearly — £29.99 per year with a 14-day free trial (effective ≈ £2.50 per month, a ~16% discount on monthly).
Prices shown are for the United Kingdom. In other regions, Apple displays the equivalent local price using its standard pricing tiers.
Billing and payment are managed entirely by Apple via the App Store. The developer does not see your payment information.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- Free trials convert to paid subscriptions automatically at the end of the trial period unless cancelled.
- Refunds are handled by Apple. The developer does not process refunds directly; contact Apple Support if you need one.
Free-tier features (everything that runs on-device) remain available with no subscription required.
AI outputs are not advice
The text Intus generates — daily cards, evening readings, seasonal reflections, habit insights, and any other AI feature — is produced by language models (Apple Foundation Models on-device, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini). These models can be wrong. They sometimes invent facts. They are not a substitute for advice from a doctor, therapist, financial advisor, lawyer, or any other professional. Use your own judgement.
Specifically:
- Mood classifications are heuristic. They do not diagnose anything.
- Habit / season readings are pattern reflections, not prescriptions.
- Anything that reads like advice is descriptive, not directive.
If you are in a mental-health crisis, contact a crisis line in your country (e.g., 988 in the US, Samaritans on 116 123 in the UK). Intus is not designed to handle crisis situations.
Your content
You own everything you write in Intus. The developer has no licence to your journal content, your mood entries, your gratitude lines, or any media you attach. The developer cannot access them — they live in your iCloud private database and on your device.
When you use a cloud AI feature, prompt context is transmitted to the chosen AI provider for the duration of the call. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Disclaimer of warranties
Intus is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of AI outputs, uninterrupted availability of cloud AI providers, or non-infringement.
In particular:
- The developer does not warrant that the app will be free of bugs or that all features will function in every situation.
- The developer does not warrant the availability of Anthropic or Google as AI providers; if a provider is unavailable, the corresponding features may temporarily fail.
- The developer does not warrant that AI outputs will be accurate, useful, or appropriate for your specific situation.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of goodwill — arising out of or related to your use of Intus, even if the developer has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
The developer’s total cumulative liability arising out of or related to Intus, regardless of the legal theory, is limited to the amount you have paid the developer (via Apple) for subscriptions in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. If you have paid nothing, the developer’s total liability is US $0.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages — in those jurisdictions the limitations apply only to the extent permitted by law.
Termination
You may stop using Intus at any time by deleting the app and removing the Intus container from your iCloud account. The developer may terminate or suspend access to AI features for users who abuse the AI providers’ systems in ways that would jeopardise the developer’s access to those providers; the rest of the app continues to function with on-device features.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to their conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these terms or your use of Intus will be brought in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in a jurisdiction that grants you statutory consumer-protection rights (in particular the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 and equivalent EU consumer law), nothing in this clause overrides those rights.
Changes to these terms
Material changes to these terms will be reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top and announced in the app’s release notes for the version that includes the change. Continued use of Intus after a change indicates acceptance of the updated terms.
